Louise M. Douville

Louise M. Douville has been in practice for more than thirty years focusing in the area of professional medical malpractice defense, healthcare law, elder law and elder abuse, and also handles matters of government tort liability, insurance indemnity, and insurance coverage. She has also handled litigation involving premises liability, automobile accidents, alleged ADA violations and employment law, and has participated in complex litigation defense of sensitive personal injury cases which have drawn international media attention and have included interaction with multiple governmental agencies (FBI, IRS, and FDA). She has tried more than twenty-seven Superior Court cases to verdict with excellent results including defense verdicts and has handled more than two hundred and fifty binding and non-binding arbitrations and mediations. Clients she has represented include USC, UC Regents, St. Joseph Health System (St. Joseph of Orange, Mission Hospital, St Jude Medical Center, St Mary Medical Center), Adventist Health (South Coast Medical Center), San Antonio Regional Hospital, and the County of Orange.

Ms. Douville began her career as an associate attorney with Garrett, Fisher, Jensen and Sanders where she practiced general liability defense for one year (1988-1989). She left that firm to focus on defending healthcare entities when she became an associate attorney with Madory, Booth, Zell and Pleiss (1989-1995). In 1995, Ms. Douville came to work at Beam, Brobeck and West in 1995, where she became a junior partner in 2003, and a name partner in January 2013. In November 2018, Ms. Douville joined the offices of Fraser Watson Croutch LLP as a partner.

Ms. Douville has also served as an invited speaker/lecturer at numerous hospitals and professional organizations on a variety of topics including Elder Abuse, Legal Issues in Nursing, Abuse Reporting Regulations, the Consent Process, Liability Issues for Residents. Liability Issues for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, Medical Records and Documentation, Service Animals, and the Medicare Secondary Payor Act.

In 2011 Louise received induction into the American Board of Trial Advocates as an “Associate.”
